Crisis Loans and Community Care Grants will end in March 2013. From April 2013 English Local Authorities and the devolved administrations in Scotland and Wales will be responsible for alternative provision; this will not be a phased change.
Crisis Loans alignment payments will be replaced by Short Term Advances (a type of payment on account of benefit) for the existing benefits and Universal Credit.
Budgeting Loans will be phased out as Universal Credit is introduced. Universal Credit claimants will have access to new Budgeting Advances (another type of payment on account of benefit).
